WHITE & YELLOW LION HEAD ROW HOUSE

Above: Front view of the WHITE & YELLOW LION HEAD ROW HOUSE created by brick artist MITCH HIGHTOWER.

WHITE & YELLOW LION HEAD ROW HOUSE • BRICK TRICK HOLIDAY TOWN

Another in the collection of buildings for the HOLIDAY TOWN project is the WHITE & YELLOW LION HEAD ROW HOUSE. With a regal lion head corbel over the arched front entrance and the large bump-out front window, this home makes a sophisticated architectural statement.

Mitch explains he designed and constructed this building after seeing some properties near his own home while out on a walk. Mitch did not draw the structure ahead of time, rather he worked, building from a pile of mainly white bricks and, as he says, "a picture inside of my head".

Below: A three-quarter view shows the arch motif repeated on the side openings. A skylight on the yellow roof top is also visible in this shot. The entire yellow roof panel can be removed to access the interior, which is furnished. Another access panel shown below serves a different purpose.

Above: In the back of the structure is this access door which pulls down on a special brick "hinge", (a series of rocker plates).
Below: The access door can be opened so you can turn on and off the battery operated LED light inside the structure.

WHITE & GREEN HOLIDAY HOUSE

Above: The WHITE and GREEN HOLIDAY HOUSE is another addition to the BRICK TRICK HOLIDAY TOWN project.

GREETINGS & HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

More work is still going on with the HOLIDAY TOWN project and more new buildings are being added almost everyday! One of the newer additions is this white building with green trim. Designed and built by brick artist PHILIP BUCHAN, this unit features cool architectural elements and a "tunnel" entry. Tunnel entries are infamous features of many SAN FRANCISCO row houses and are notoriously dark, underutilized spaces. Philip overcomes the darkness of a tunnel entry with this bright white and green color scheme, and as you'll see below, diamond shaped windows allow light into the tunnel entry and stairwell.

The wreath on the front was added by brick artist MITCH HIGHTOWER as a holiday adornment. These are easy to build using green 2x2 plates. Mitch decorated this wreath with red caps and a large red flower with a yellow amber transparent cap in the center.

Below: A close-up of the wreath added as a holiday decoration to this brick model.

Below: Another shot of the WHITE and GREEN HOLIDAY HOUSE shows the side, front facade and roof top. Note the diamond shaped windows created by combining regular and inverse slopes.

HOLIDAY TOWN • MID-CENTURY ROW HOUSES

Above: More additions to the BRICK TRICK HOLIDAY TOWN.

Greetings!

The HOLIDAY TOWN continues to expand. Recently added structures include the three mid-century row houses shown above. The inspiration came from actual SAN FRANCISCO homes built in the early 1950's, not unlike the one where some of the BRICK TRICK artists reside themselves.

In the photo we see three brick house sculptures. From left, the WHITE and YELLOW home, with arches and a lion head above the front entrance. This sculpture was designed and built by brick artist MITCH HIGHTOWER. The building also has a bump-out front window and high interior ceilings on the second floor. The interior is furnished and has a built-in LED LIGHT so the structure can be "lit" at night.

The center building, a bold lime house was designed and built by brick artist PHILIP BUCHAN. Philip used the digital design software provided by the brick manufacturer to create this building as a computer rendering first. Philip likes to work from photographs of actual buildings, and keeps a reference folder full of pictures of houses to use as inspiration.

The building in the right of the image is also the work of Philip. The bright orange home features a balcony above the front door and operable windows. This bright color is actually painted on the exterior of several big city homes in SAN FRANCISCO.

More HOLIDAY TOWN additions will follow.

CHRISTMAS TREE LOT • New Holiday Town Addition

Above: An overhead view of the new HOLIDAY TOWN CHRISTMAS TREE LOT.

Greetings and Happy Holidays!

We're still adding more structures and other goodies to our ever-expanding brick HOLIDAY TOWN project. The images in this posting feature the CHRISTMAS TREE LOT, complete with an arbor with a counter area, holiday poinsettias in red and white and of course the Christmas Trees! A blue-clad minifigure dude is available to help you select your tree and carry it to your brick vehicle. Other notable features are the picket fence and the light fixtures. This model is built on a green 16x32 peg base plate and uses white 1x2 smooth tiles to create the "sidewalk".

Below: A view of the HOLIDAY TOWN CHRISTMAS TREE LOT from "street level".

Above: This close-up shows the details of the arbor, built with brown arch pieces and plates.

The PINK ICE CREAM CART kit rolls on wheels and can serve desserts anywhere you'd like in your brick town. The PINK, ORANGE & WHITE ICE CREAM KIOSK serves cones and other desserts and makes a cool addition to your brick city PARK, TRANSIT MALL or BASEBALL FIELD.

Below: The PINK ICE CREAM KIOSK with a minifigure DUDE waiting for his sundae!

Below: A close-up of the ICE CREAM KIOSK signage, which is designed to look like an ice cream cone. This was created with basic bricks and a white finial brick topped-off by a red cap piece.

Above: The PINK ICE CREAM CART kits have special hard-to-find parts like the clear transparent goblet and the light orange ice cream "scoops".

Above: The PINK, ORANGE & WHITE ICE CREAM KIOSK can seat two minifigs for a sweet treat! Note the diamond shaped window in the kiosk back wall which is created using both inverse and regular white slope bricks.

BRICK TRICK TOWN

BRICK TRICK TOWN
Holiday Party Presentation Samples

Here at our SAN FRANCISCO Studio, we've been designing and constructing various buildings as tests and samples for a town we are planning to have on display at a holiday party. The shots in this posting show buildings which include, (from left), the RED/WHITE ART MUSEUM and GALLERY; the YELLOW TUDOR house; a park area with benches and a large tree; a grand stand area overlooking the park complete with bleachers and a fountain; a powder-blue loft style building and the ORANGE TAQUERIA which was featured in a previous post. We're working on several other buildings right now including a series of "cottage" structures which will be featured in an upcoming posting.
