RAINBOW "SKINNY BRICK TOWN" BUILDINGS

This post features buildings from the Skinny Brick Town project featured on the Brick Trick BLOG in October.  For this presentation, Brick Trick Artist Philip Buchan has arranged the structures by color to form a rainbow.

The twelve different colors included are, (from left to right), red, orange, yellow, lime, mint, green, teal, blue, purple, violet, magenta and pink.

Brick Flower Arrangement

Above: A "Brick Flower Arrangement".

BRICK FLOWER ARRANGEMENT

Brick Trick artist Trick Richey set out to create a "more organic" form, as he put it, "different from the architectural buildings I often create".

The result is the brick floral sculpture in this posting, which is made up of seven different brick flowers all arranged in a clear cylindrical brick vase.

"SKINNY BRICK TOWN" Series of Buildings

Above: Brick Trick artist Philip Buchan created a town of buildings, most constructed with only an eight peg width.  Some of the buildings are only 6 pegs wide.  Can you spot the one 7 peg and one 9 peg wide buildings?

"SKINNY BRICK TOWN" Series of Buildings

Brick Trick artist Philip Buchan created an entire town of buildings, all constructed on very narrow "lots".

The scale of this series is suitable for minifigures, (and you'll see plenty of them hanging out on various balconies and many other places).

REMINDER: Enlarge the images by clicking on them.

Below: The back view of the street, with plenty of action happening in the tiny yard spaces and along the sidewalk.

Above: A closer view of some of the buildings.  No two structures are exactly the same color scheme and all have unique architectural details.  Notice the small alley created between the blue and the gray buildings, which are only six pegs wide each.

LOG CABIN PROJECT

Above: The LOG CABIN project designed and built by BrickTrick artist Philip Buchan.

LOG CABIN PROJECT

Brick Trick artist Philip Buchan wanted to create a log cabin that actually had the look of logs. In this doll house style model, (that means the backside is open for viewing and/or play), Philip employs "palisade" style bricks in reddish-brown and sets the bricks on their sides to get the log effect. Please scroll down to view more images of this one-of-a-kind project.

Above and below: The reddish-brown palisade or "log" brick is available as a 1x4 peg or a 1x2 peg size brick.

CUTE LITTLE COTTAGES

Greetings BRICK TRICK BLOG Friends!

This posting features images of a series of Holiday Cottages built by PHILIP BUCHAN for the 2009 Brick Trick display. Each tiny building sits on a 16x16 peg base plate and no two homes are exactly alike.

Below: The LIME COTTAGE has a bright yellow roof. Through the large "living room" window you can see the white holiday tree decorated with black ornaments.

Above: A closer view of the tree in the LIME COTTAGE.

VALENTINE MIX & LOVE MOSAIC

Above: The Valentine "Love" mosaic designed by Brick Trick artist Trick Richey.

VALENTINE MIX & LOVE MOSAIC

Greetings BrickTrick BLOG Friends!

Despite all the many kits and other things we've built, we'd never really experimented with brick mosaics. So Trick set out to create a brick Valentine using bold colors including red and two shades of pink. The result is a free standing mosaic built on two 8x16 peg base plates which can be placed side-by-side as shown. The design also works when the base plates are arranged on top of each other in a square layout, though the mosaic panels cannot stand up in this position and have to be laid flat for display. The LOVE mosaic incorporates several cool bright pink, dark pink, red transparent and white bricks and plates, as well as lots of red transparent 1x1 smooth tiles which cover the entire background of the base plates between each of the letters and the heart motif.

More details about this project and building instructions using new software we're experimenting with will be available in a future posting.

Enjoy and happy building!

Above: Pictured are several architectural creations from the BRICK TRICK studio. These structures, which include a cinema, hotel, hair salon and pizza parlor among others, were designed and built to accompany the GREEN GROCER kit from the manufacturer. Future postings will feature images of each building, as many of the projects have fully furnished interiors and the floors and rooftops lift off for easy viewing and play!

Happy Holidays!

Step 2: Build the front door by stacking black 1x2 bricks and placing black 1x1 bricks with handles centered in stack;1 facing each direction. Add dark pink 1x1 bricks to top.

Step 3: Collect the various elements as shown above. These pieces are required to assemble the painting for use inside the gallery building.

Step 5: Build the “crystal” sculpture by stacking and rotating the 8 clear transparent 1x2 plates. Create the pedestal with black 2x2 bricks.

Step 6: Add black 1x2 tiles with pegs to the top of the pedestal. Place crystal sculpture on the two pegs on top of the 2 black tiles.

Step 7: Create the “glass art” for the front entry by stacking the transparent cones, caps and plates as shown; or any other way you like.

Step 8: Place glass tower sculpture between pegs on remaining black 2x2 brick, forming the exterior art and pedestal display.

Step 9: Build the palm tree by stacking brown 1x1 bricks. Snap fronds into a star shape and add lime 1x1 caps.

Step 10: Create 4 stacks of 3 green transparent 1x1 plates. Add 2 plates to each of 4 clear bricks.

Step 11: Build the “stained glass” window by stacking bricks and plates as shown.

Step 12: Shown above are all of the completed elements required to construct the gallery building and as well as the contents and exterior.

REMINDER: Enlarge the images by simply clicking on them.

Step 13: Add white 1x8 stack of bricks to base plate, forming back wall. Add stained glass and dark pink column creating bump-out sidewall. Place one stack of clear bricks for a window and add the stack of bright pink bricks to form remaining sidewall. Add the two dark gray 2x4 plates to form side roof section.

Step 14: Add door and second clear stack of 1x2 bricks, plus the stack of dark pink 1x1 bricks to build the front wall. Add two stacks of 2 clear bricks and two stacks of dark pink 1x1 bricks to dark gray 2x4 plates to begin clerestory roof.

Step 16: Add second dark gray 6x6 plate to complete the roof.

Step 17: “Hang” the painting by attaching lime pegs on plate to underside of dark gray roof plates. Add sculpture on pedestal.

Step 18: Add the 2 red 2x2 smooth tiles for the walkway. Place palm tree and glass art tower. Now the gallery is ready for a gala opening party.
