Large Architectural Building Kits from Lego®

This posting features images of the large building kits from the manufacturer designed primarily for experienced and/or adult builders.

Below: The CAFE CORNER model which has been discontinued. This building has three very detailed exterior floors but came with absolutely nothing inside.

Above: The GRAND EMPORIUM is the most recent addition to this product line and has three floors of retail space which are nicely detailed and decorated throughout.

Above: The FIRE BRIGADE has two floors and includes a vintage fire truck. The interiors of both floors are highly detailed with cool furnishings including a ping-pong table upstairs.

Above: The GREEN GROCER has a pleasing sand green color scheme and a very detailed store on the first level. The two levels of living space above have a few details but are not completely furnished. The third floor has a lot of space taken up with stairs to a roof deck, (not visible in this image).

Lime Pizza Parlor Building

This project was designed and built by Brick Trick artist Trick Richey. The Lime Pizza Parlor building has a restaurant on the first floor and mezzanine, and a third floor which remains unfinished though could serve as an upstairs apartment. The roof and floors lift off to reveal the interiors.

Swing Experiment #1

SWING EXPERIMENT #1

Recently we had a request from an Ebay customer asking if we had a custom building kit for a park swing. While we've built hundreds of things, it seems a swing has not yet been one of them. Considerations for a swing include issues regarding balance, so the figure will swing without falling backward. It was a tougher engineering challenge than we anticipated. While the solution in the image above is very simple, it also allows for some movement of the swing itself without falling over. We used dark pink 1x1 bricks to build the swing poles and topped it with a white 1x8 smooth tile for a cross bar. The swing itself is made of a dark purple 2x4 plate and two light bluish-gray "chains". The swing set is placed on a green 4x12 plate and we added some dark pink flowers as an accent. More experiments and ideas to follow in separate postings.

Step 1: Place orange 1x1 cap on top peg of dark purple 4x4 parabola. Place both dark turquoise 2x3 33-degree slopes on green 2x2 plate as shown. Add blue trans. cap to dark pink cylinder for sugar bowl. Add white slope to white 1x1 brick for creamer carton.

Step 2: Place dark purple parabola with orange cap on white antennae to complete the “umbrella”. Snap dark turquoise 2x2 brick on to the top of the table base assembly as shown.

Step 3: Add all three dark purple 2x4 plates to the base assembly to create the bench seats and picnic tabletop.

Step 4: Place the sugar bowl, creamer carton, croissant and minifigure mug on the table. These items can be arranged as shown or in any way you like.

Step 5: Complete your picnic table by adding the umbrella, placed between the remaining four pegs on the tabletop. Add a minifigure and you’re ready for a breakfast picnic!

Step 1: Snap orange cap on to dark pink 4x4 parabola. Stack dark blue transparent caps and orange transparent caps, add gearshifts. Place “scoops” in goblet. Add yellow transparent caps to red and green transparent cones.

Step 2: Build cart base by attaching pink and glitter bricks to light gray axle plates, add white inverse slope. Place white 2x4 plate on top along with white 1x2 plate w/handle. Place black tires on white rims.

Step 3: Add the white 1x2 tile w/panel and white 1x2 grill to the cart base as shown in photo. Add condiments, bottles and ice cream sundae to pegs as shown or in your own unique layout.

Step 4: Add cap/parabola to white antennae pole and place “umbrella” on cart. Carefully add wheels to pegs on light gray axle plates and you’re ready for a big day of ice cream sales.
