DOUBLE DECKER HOLIDAY TRAIN LAYOUT

If you've been following the Brick Trick BLOG, then you may have seen us build train layouts in our fireplace before.  While that may sound mighty strange, it makes great use of a space we otherwise never use.  And we had to get creative when it came to fitting a train in our small living room.

The Double Decker Train layout includes two tracks on different levels, each track with it's own unique train cars.  The lower track also has a train station.  The main focal point is the HILLTOP PLACE department store, which has several floors for holiday shopping! Notice the rooftop restaurant on top of the department store with lots of guests dining al fresco.

Street of Larger Buildings

Above: Pictured are several architectural creations from the BRICK TRICK studio. These structures, which include a cinema, hotel, hair salon and pizza parlor among others, were designed and built to accompany the GREEN GROCER kit from the manufacturer. Future postings will feature images of each building, as many of the projects have fully furnished interiors and the floors and rooftops lift off for easy viewing and play!

GREETINGS & HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

More work is still going on with the HOLIDAY TOWN project and more new buildings are being added almost everyday! One of the newer additions is this white building with green trim. Designed and built by brick artist PHILIP BUCHAN, this unit features cool architectural elements and a "tunnel" entry. Tunnel entries are infamous features of many SAN FRANCISCO row houses and are notoriously dark, underutilized spaces. Philip overcomes the darkness of a tunnel entry with this bright white and green color scheme, and as you'll see below, diamond shaped windows allow light into the tunnel entry and stairwell.

The wreath on the front was added by brick artist MITCH HIGHTOWER as a holiday adornment. These are easy to build using green 2x2 plates. Mitch decorated this wreath with red caps and a large red flower with a yellow amber transparent cap in the center.
